We have seen many GOP politicians treat their constituents poorly this campaign season. Sue Kelly and Marilyn Musgrave have run away from the cameras. George Allen's goons roughed up Mike Stark. Now see what happens when a Joe Barton (R) TX-06 a congressman in a heavily GOP district is afraid of getting tough questions from a
GOP DONOR constituent. Link here.

By the way Joe's district is so heavily GOP that no one is even polling there this year. His opponent is David T Harris (an Iraq war vet) http://www.followmetodc.com/
Joe Barton is single handedly holding up the Combating Autism Act already passed overwhelmingly by the Senate. He wants to tie the passage of the bill to reform of the NIH. NIH reform isn't a bad idea, but not worth risking delaying funding of autism research.
This issue is not about politics, it is about children. Barton knows that if the Center for Environmental Excellence mandates that the NIH investigates the environmental concerns surrounding Autism that most of his corporate donor list might be held accountable for making children sick. That is why he is fighting it and playing political poker with the Combating Autism Act. He is a disgrace to the district and a disgrace to Congress.
Even if you are a Republican DONOR with an autistic child, you shouldn't expect to be allowed in to a meeting to discuss the subject with "Smokey Joe". Especially if you plan to ask any hard questions.
