Last night I posted a diary about my sudden revelation that I am no longer an independent. One of the commentors asked me to edit the diary and include a poll to see how many others shared this experience, which I didn't see till this morning - so here goes.

To sum up my thoughts last night: I realized I am no longer an independent because I will never vote for a republican again. In the 90's I did not vote by party, I liked both McCain and Powell (wince).
I look back on those days now and feel niave. The republicans have declared war on me and the only weapon I can lay my hands on now is the democratic party, so I have become a Dem by default.
My son wrote in McCain's name in 2000, but now spends all his time ranting about the "Republicans". My best friend Lynda and her sister were greens, but no longer. Lynda now sports a bumper sticker that reads; "Poor enough yet? Vote Democratic". They are all Dems by default now too.
So, what's your story?
