I just finished watching a Clark speech on C-Span, and as usual, I found him very appealing.
I don't think he has a chance in hell to win the nomination because he's just not ready for the prime-time glare, but I do really like the guy.
Beyond his considerable personal appeal, and beyond the fact that I've long considered him a hero over the Kosovo war (the only war I've ever whole-heartedly supported), the mark of the Clinton administration is all over Clark's thinking.
I don't know if the Clinton-ism comes from his staffers, or from his own personal experience with that administration, or both, but I do appreciate it.
Unlike many at this site, I loved the Clinton administration. Not only did I like Clinton himself, I also liked the people he staffed his administration with. They managed to combine great public policy along with enough attention to political realities to survive. I see that kind of thinking in Clark.
I think Clark would make a great President. Unfortunately, I just don't think he has any way of getting there this year.
