I wanted to let everyone know that this morning Tom Vilsack is formally announcing that he is running for President in his hometown of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He will be giving his announcement speech at Iowa Wesleyan College at 10:00 AM.
Last night, we all attended a potluck at Mt. Pleasant Middle School that the community hosted for the visiting press. It has been a special couple days for everyone -- watching the current Governor in his hometown interact with the community where he was Mayor, local attorney and coach. And where Christie Vilsack grew up and later taught middle school.
So it is fitting the announcement begins here in Mt. Pleasant.
The speech will be carried live on CSPAN:

Tom also video blogged about the speech last night:

Also Chris Woods will be covering it on his blog, later in the day:

We will also have the video of the full speech on our site later today:

Today’s announcement speech kicks off our "Courage to Create Change" tour of five states including his hometown of Pittsburgh. He will be video blogging from the road throughout the tour, so please subscribe to the rss feed and follow along.
I will try and be around to answer your questions. But we are also distributing cameras to the audience to create a photo album of the event from many interesting angles and perspectives – and I have to make sure that we get those pictures together for everyone to see on tomvilsack08.com
And please share you impressions of the speech in this thread and I will be forwarding along comments to the Governor. We are looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
