I wonder if others beside myself finds it amazing that George Bush says he will only fire Rove or others in the White House if they are convicted of a crime. It seems to me that indictment would be a high enough bar for getting rid of someone in a position such as Rove holds. Indeed, the unethical, blatently political disclosure of Valerie Wilson, by name or not by name, should be enough of a reason for Bush to let him go. He has committed, if not high crimes, more than his share of misdemeanors in my opinion, this Wilson affair being just one of them, and his leaving would be good for all of us. For Rove, the old line that those who fight with the sword die by the sword rings true.
Of course, if you read Frank Rich this weekend, it's pretty clear that all this focus on Rove is a mere distraction from the real issue: Bush's taking us to war on false pretenses. That's what we should address with unrelenting tenacity.
