What comes next? After the filibuster?
In this diary please share some of your ideas on what the Dems could do to raise the level of rhetoric, stop engaging with the Republicans, and appeal to the majority of Americans. We can send them to the DNC or Gore.
One thing the Dems could do is to stop engaging with the Republican media machine. Stop talking about National Security. Altogether. Use Rove's own words against him: say the Republicans are "stuck in a 9/11 mindset," that they will never be able to move beyond 9/11. Stop trying to nail Bush and his cabal on each and every one of their crimes. Stop talking back. Instead, they should only speak to their own agenda. They can stop Rove dead in his tracks if they simply stop talking back to him, and instead talk above him. Raise the level of the discussion. Start using bigger words. Treat the Republican right like the fringe group they are, begin talking to the majority of Americans, start sounding SMART. Stop acting like an "opposition" party, and start acting like a ruling party. Start sounding like the legitimate ruling party.
In other words, follow Gore's lead.
