I am a Deaniac, or at least I was
one.
I am first and foremost, an anyone but Bush Democrat. I will be happy to volunteer and work for any of the remaining serious candidates although one of them may prompt heavier than normal drinking. I want the best possible candidate in order to beat Bush in November.
I had thought that this candidate would be Howard Dean because he had a spine and the ability to expand the issue space and volunteer space. I know that any Democrat who faces Bush in November will need a significant ground game advantage because Bush and his money will be able to dominate the air war from March to August. I thought that the Dean ground campaign would be large enough and sufficiently well organized for the Iowa caucuses to win this event by creating thousands of new caucus attendees. I was wrong. The Dean campaign was disorganized and their expected hard counts disapparated into the cold night's air.
I do not know who has the best chance of beating Bush as I believe that he is eminantably beatable. However I do know that Howard Dean's perceived advantages and differentiations from the other candidates have disappeared. I would be happy with any of the major candidates running, and therefore I withdraw my endorsement from Howard Dean.
