I urge my fellow Kossacks to join me in declaring a cease fire with our blood enemies George Bush and the Republican party. After being very sceptical that the Iraqi Study Group report would actually ammount to anything substantial I was downright shocked as I listened to what the group had to say this morning. Honestly brutal is how I would describe it. It heartened me to see that this country still has some REAL leaders left, on BOTH sides of the aisle. Maybe ... just maybe ... we might have one last dog's chance in hell to pull this thing out. One last chance to prevent a diaster from turning into a full blown catastrophe. Maybe. Honestly I'm not very hopeful, and I get the feeling neither is the ISQ. But we have to at least give it a shot. We owe it to our troops, to the Iraqi people, and to ourselves. This war has put our Republic and the world at large in grave danger. We have an obligation to pull out all the stops and make one final last ditch massive effort to find some sort of solution to this Rubik's cube of a mess. If we don't, the entire war on terror could be lost.
The giant fly in the ointment though is the fact that the chances of this plan actually working moves from slim to none, to absolute zero if all of the American people, no matter what their politics, don't get behind this plan. I don't entirely agree with all of it but everyone will something they don't like. There is no time for debate, events could very well indeed overtake us. If we start to debate and each side starts to pick and chooce what to leave in and what to leave out, it will quickly degenerate into partisan bickering and we will end up with Stay the Course by default. That is why I am calling for a cease fire with our political ememies. There are those who would say that we should not even try to save the situation in Iraq. That we should let George Bush sink in his own shit. But think of the consequences of doing so to our troops, to the Iraqi people, to our beloved Union, to the world. Regardless of what others choose to do I am going to declare a cease fire for myself. Even if it turns out to be a one man show. For instance, from now on I will stop refering to the Talking Chimp start refering to President Bush. I will sheathe my sword and lower lower my shield. If you will join me in declaring this cease fire and the Republicans are the ones to break the truce, I promise you I will be the first to sound the war trumpet and renew hostilities. Our leaders on the Iraqi Study Group have done their duty. Let us do ours. Thank you for your time.
