Maybe it's my imagination. In fact, I hope it is. But it seems like the cause of addressing the dirty tricks of the 2006 campaigns, primarilly robocalls, may already be mostly forgotten.
If the tactic had actually cost Jim Webb his senate seat, I'm pretty sure we'd be fuming about those calls every other day and demanding action. Now that the Democrats are in a position of power, they have a chance to make dramatic changes to election law that would result in more than just fines for committing such bullying and manipulative tactics during election time.
Instead, all I've seen is a few notes here and there about how a couple states are going to "ban" robocalls. Well, I guess that's good news, but shouldn't we do more? In fact, are we even doing something worth noting to punish the neanderthals that pulled this nonsense this year? Talk on the topic seems depressingly quiet.
