I grew up in Canada and am not an American citizen. I offer these thoughts humbly; I can certainly understand why someone might feel these ideas are irrelevant, why a person should keep to the matters of his own country. But nonetheless I hope they are appreciated by my American friends; our countries have been allies, family and friends a long, long time.
When I was a kid I remember the impressions I got of the United States of America. I learned of the Second World War and the events that happened to the United States, and how the United States joined the war and defeated the Nazis. It was magical stuff; fairytale stuff, and was told to me by my mother, who seemed to share with me an equal understanding of how tremendously important the United States was to the Canadian way of life. Our life was a life without any enemies
I was too young to appreciate Reagan. I watched Bush Sr. and Gulf War I on CNN and became boyishly, foolishly, attracted to the bombs and airplanes, ignoring the incredible tragedy that is the loss of life of the young men and women who should be considered the country’s highest heroes and protected like the greatest commodities.
When Bill Clinton inherited the White House America was just beginning to do really well economically, and my family benefited from the economic boost that our country enjoyed as a consequence of America’s leadership in innovation. The gentleness of Bill Clinton marveled me. It always occurred to me how fortunate a man he must be to be able to do so much good with the strength of America. He cared about people. He cared about peace.
During the war in Yugoslavia, Bill Clinton worked with America’s NATO allies to defeat Milosevic’s ethnic genocide, and saved a million Albanians in the process. Wesley Clark was the commander of NATO at this time. NATO, under the leadership of the United States, defeated the most brutal European army since World War II. Wesley Clark did his job. And not a single American or Allied soldier was killed in the process.
Since Bill Clinton I have not since seen someone so highly tuned to the principles of peace, prosperity and strength, like Wesley Clark. The man is a treasure. If he is made the leader of the Democratic Party, I believe monstrously wonderful changes will happen in American foreign and domestic policy. Wesley Clark was a teacher of economics at West Point Military Academy, and he understands how to return to the principles of prosperity that America enjoyed in the 90s. Wesley Clark is, out of all the current potential presidential contenders, the most qualified to lead America to victory in the war on terror. And America will win the war with its allies, who still love America and believe America’s best days are ahead.
Wesley Clark is a man of vision and the highest integrity. This becomes clear when you watch the man speak. He deserves the nomination of the Democratic Party. And he will destroy the Republican Party’s grip on the South, and he will return the Democratic Party its rightful ownership of the claim to be the party of American strength and security.
He is a Warrior / Scholar. He is the right man for your country, my friends.
