It strikes me as terribly naive to assume King George would not attack Iran. The list of deceits, attention redirections and obfuscations appear to me to more than justify concern regards where he will next take our nation. The base at Balad, the long-term planning evidenced by the PNAC documents; the placement of Wolfowitz; the insanity of "stay-the-course," regardless; all these factors speak more of a hidden agenda than of confusion - or that oft-mentioned incompetence.
But, of course, I have said all this before.
The Axis of Evil speech was, to my mind, more honesty than might have been prudent on Bush's part - especially when viewed through the retrospectoscope of the last three years. I take him at his word because I am following his footsteps - and they lead to Iran.
The most often mentioned reasons for this idea's idiocy are that "we do not have the troops" or "the troops are strained to breaking" - and the military agrees. "Airstrikes, alone, will not do it!" "There are no more troops!" "We cannot control a country of that size!"
I know... I know...
The naivete may come from ignorance of the weapons that we have in our arsenal. Or, perhaps, it is the hapless clinging to vain hope in our former virtue, still - - We Would Never Do That! Never. Never! Never!!!
Right... ask an Iraqi.
We have weapons in our pockets that seem unthinkable in use. No - not radiological, biological... not anthrax. We have those, too. And, we, and they, and all human Controllers throughout history have used them. And, they will again. And, in all likelihood, so will we.
But, I am talking about a new order of weapons, here: Details of US microwave-weapon tests revealed - Active Denial System (ADS) Of course, there are many more.
Do not think for a moment that Iran is "off the table"...
Because it is not.
