Slashdot, a geeky blog-that-predates-the-word-blog, has a
story about politicans using blogging on the site today, and it highlights the way John Kerry and other politicians have used it as a forum to spread their message. It has, of course, inspired lots of comments from an audience sometimes more technical than political, but
one thread in particular makes me angry. Read on for why...
A commenter there is eager for politicans to post here so that he and his republican pals can attempt to smear any politician reaching out to this community with the words of the most fringe-commenters among us.
I guess I understand the urge for conservatives to attempt to paint Daily Kos with the liberal fringe brush, but I've just about had it with this "gotcha" political game that conservatives try to use. Why is it so hard for them to understand that addressing a particular audience of people does not mean that they endorse every belief of every member of that audience?
I'm attacked for pointing this out by other slashdot commenters. Attacked for my beliefs? No. Attacked for being angry about the way I express them. Well, I am angry. I'm hopping mad, and I'm not going to take it anymore. Enough with the intellectually dishonest 30 second campaign commercials. Enough with gotcha' games conservatives are trying to play. Enough with politcs as usual.
If those bastards think that those strategies will prevail over a community of thousands of people coming together and sharing ideas and working towards a better future, it's time to show them how wrong they are.
