I have come to the conclusion that it is in our best interest to let the Republicans loose. I think that if we continue to fight, we may keep them from implementing their more conservative agenda. Is this in our best interest?
Think long term, and not just next week or next month.
I believe that if we just roll-over, and let them appoint their judges, and run up the deficit, and continue to destroy the environment, the end results of their actions will begin to become apparent to everyone, and not just to those of us who already 'get it'.
They are in control. They have the Senate, the House, and the White House. LET THEM DO WHAT THEY WANT...because they will be the ones that are held accountable.
I believe they will truly harm this country, and that it will painfully clear to every generation within the U.S. Imagine the massive sea change that would take place if we just take the shackles off, and let them do what they want.
I cannot see myself fighting as hard as I fought over the last year, only to eke out a few percentage points next election.
I want change, MASSIVE CHANGE...and it appears that we cannot educate the U.S. public into understanding what is happening. We cannot just put forth a clear explanation of the issues, and a plan for the future. They are NOT LISTENING.
I call for a new variation on 'Passive Aggressiveness'...'Aggressive Passiveness'.
Let's do nothing to stop the right-wing conservative agenda.
Imagine the ramifications of a change in Roe vs. Wade. While we may not like the idea, imagine how that would effect generation(s) of women who, for the first time in their lives, would find that the government controls their bodies.
Let their simplistic you-are-with-us-or-you-are-against-us foreign policy agenda lead inevitably to a draft. Imagine how that would effect generation(s) of the youth of this country.
By aggressively not-fighting, we may have to endure truly horrible, painful changes in the existing structure of our society...but I believe that the reaction to that change would be so strong, and so severe, that the right-wing agenda would be pushed down for hundreds of years.
So, the question is, do we claw for every little thing in hopes of making a few changes here and there...or do we step back and really let a tidal wave of conservative actions roll over the country. I vote that we step back.
Let the country see who these people really are, and maybe we will see a country that wakes up and returns to it's true values of personal freedom and support for even the least among us.
Aggressive Passiveness is the key to our future.
