given the troubles with overseas fundraising in the last decade, this idea might be controversial, but i think it's a potential pool of money too big to pass up.
there are several million americans overseas, the bulk of whom, based on my own unscientific sample (people i've met), aren't happy with bush. this includes the republicans. it may be that in the absence of fox news, it's harder for even righties to fool themselves that bush is doing a good job, or that he hasn't made the u.s. incredibly unpopular overseas, or that his foreign policy hasn't been almost completely counterproductive.
u.s. nationals living overseas tend to be middle class or better...and in much asia they're taxed at lower rates than in the u.s, giving them a lot more disposable income.
what i think is needed, if it doesn't already exist, is an organization aimed at raising money from people overseas, certainly for kerry, and perhaps for senate and house races too. it could screen donors to avoid the problem of the 1990s of having foreign nationals give money.
