Alright, George Soros says he wants to help unseat Bush but FEC lawyers may prohibit soft money contributions to 527 groups that endorse a candidate.
How about this? George Soros or a consortium of rich Dems announce a lottery paying off $100 million (or some other large figure). After the election names of people who actually voted in specific districts (i.e., in Democratic voter rich districts in swing states) will be put into a drawing and will be eligible to win the money. I think this would boost turnout enormously in the particular districts particularly among poor and minority voters. There are a variety of other similar techniques that might be employed. For example, suppose a really popular rap group said they would do a free concert open to anyone who lives in the voting district that achieves the highest percentage turnout. The choice of a Rap group that appeals to a particular demographic would create a great competition among different districts to get out the vote. Could be cool. Okay, tell me why this is insane or illegal?
