Here is the very first draft of my lil'ol'
Media White Pages
I imported this out of Access. I've committed myself to this tedious task for several reasons:
- Developing this into a search engine would allow for swift and more copious response to offending pieces. The more outrage, the more likely that the lazy media actually does its job.
- Affiliation - to help identify bias. Ideally I'd like to document the various media whores and their multiple employers (I.E. Krauthammer: sure, he's got a column in SCLM Washington Post, but you've got him writing for the Weekly Standard as well).
- Corporate Ownership - I'm working on a smaller directory of major news outlets and their corporate owners, together with contact info for the parent company.
- Corporate Sponsors - To facilitate product boycott threats.
This was cobbled together over the past couple of days. It's nothing more than a foundation. I'm basically crawling through CalPundit's English-language Press listing and picking out the names, direct URLs and emails of op-eds. Not every search is successful (as y'all can tell), as some media sites will simply give you a generic web form for sending in your commentary to articles.
I am fully committed to pulling this info into one place and I'd appreciate any help or suggestions.
Make no mistake, the media IS the enemy.
