Well, it's been no new fact that Cheney's former company Halliburton has been faring quite well as a defense contractor for the Iraq war, but now it seems like the company is up for a series of bonuses from the army that could total 9 million dollars initially, and hundreds of millions later on.

Of course, it would be foolish to assume that cheney doesn't still own a boatload of stock in this company. Halliburton goodies still equal goodies for cheney.
Why is this important? Not just because it's a fine example of crony capitalism...
administration corruption, and media bias (this story not found too much around the american newsbeat); rather, previous press coverage also shows this decision to grant bonuses to be suspiciously inconsistent with previous dealings with the Halliburton company.

In short, where once daunted by Halliburton's outlandish prices and unsure service, the army (only 3 weeks later) decides to grant monetary awards to the company. Note that one estimate Halliburton gave was up to 10 billion dollars, roughly 15 percent of annual wartime expenditures funnelled directly into a private company with ties to the vice president.
should't be shocking, but yet another thing worth hearing about.
