Disclaimer: I am French.
I have been living in the US for 11 years. In Florida. I was stunned in 2000 when a moron who looks like one, managed to move into the WH. Especially when my boss commented at the time: "that shows that US democracy is a success".
I am very concerned with the environment and still love my country because I believe that it is good not to follow blindly. The French are whiners and argumentative, but I think it is healthy to have a debate in order to learn from others' experience.
For the past 3 years, I have been flabbergasted (love that word) by what W has been able to get away with, all under the name of 9/11. I started considering moving back to France despite the despairing unemployement rate. Then the Democratic campaign started.
Kerry has an excellent record re the environment from what I hear, and he seems to love old Europe (and old Europeans?)! You would think he would be a perfect candidate. Yet, if he is nominated I am still moving back to France (consider this as a threat...)
Kerry may be a nice man who cared about his soldiers enough to try to save them. Yet he has shown no sign since then that he could LEAD THE MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY ON EARTH !!! He keeps making bad decision after bad decision and is only REPEATING Dean's message!
I am sorry, but I am pretty mad at the American electorate right now. I have been reading y'all on Kos for the past 6 months now, and I had come to believe that America had waken up and its decent people were going to make things right again. Dean had a message that was not shadowed by him trying to be "electable". Everything he said made sense and according to his record, he really meant what he said, which was refreshing!
He even went to the top of the polls! Then the average American started voting.
For somebody that they heard could beat Bush. And then WHAT???
I have a slogan for Dean's campaign:
Being electable is good for one day. Can you be proud of your choice for the next 4 years?
Bush was electable. Look where you are now.
I am so infuriated that the majority won't even look at the facts when it comes to electing their president! And believe me, I don't pretend that it is any better in France: over there, all of them are sleazy lying career politicians. But you have the chance for once to be able to vote for somebody different!
I wish I could take everybody by the shoulders and shake them a little so that they would come out of their torpor.
Please, nominate Dean! Don't you want to try something different?
