MSNBC's headline:
Bush calls for halt to Swift Boat vets' ads
"It's bad for the system," president says
NYTimes headline:
Bush Calls for End of All Attack Ads
From Reuters:
Bush Urges End to Campaign Ads by Independent Groups
From AP:
Bush Denounces Ads by Outside Groups
The media, whether you see it or not, is in the opening stages of giving Bush a free pass here, and making him look better than Kerry with such a grand proposal. The media needs to be notified that Bush just called for the end of all political speech that he, and others like him, cannot control!
Unless we, en masse, notify the media that Bush's broad condemnation does nothing to solve the discrepancies in the swift boat ads but rather call on the elimination of any abilities for ordinary Americans to make political advertisements, speeches, or whatnot, Bush will get away with it one more time!
Don't let the media give Bush yet another pass! It's time to attack back!
[Update]: Just so you know, Bush's announcement could be interpreted that advertisements here on DKos, much less those that have this website's name or anyone else's name on it, could be declared illegal if Bush has his way. Anything is possible with these guys, think about it!
