10 reasons to vote against James Webb
1) worked for Reagan and thinks of him as an American legend
2) trashed Clinton to death
3) endorsed George Bush in 2000
4) endorsed George Allen in 2000
5) refused to shake John Kerry's hand for 30 years because John Kerry had a conscience and opposed the war he nearly gave his life for
6) has the audacity to criticize others for not opposing the Iraq war when he maintained a "my country right or wrong" mentality for 30 years, refusing to even shake the hands of antiwar vets
7) opposes affirmative action
8) strongly opposes gun control
9) loves the death penalty
10) referred to his opponent, a Jewish Democrat, as "the antichrist" by quoting someone else's name as cover--the old sucker-punch and run behind somebody's back approach
James Webb is not a Democrat. He's a conservative. He's a Republican. He won't outline his position on any issue because he knows that the Democratic party voters would never support him in the primary if they knew where he stood.
Haven't this blog, and all liberal blogs, been screaming for the last 4 years about bringing an ALTERNATIVE to the Republican Party, not being "Democrats in Republican shoes" or whatever? Then why are we endorsing the exact plague we've spent years fighting?
Didn't everyone scream in 2002 that we lost the midterm elections because Democrats tried to be like Republicans? And now, we have a Democrat and a Republican in our Democratic primary in VA, and every blogger on earth is loving the Republican, the conservative, who agrees with George Allen on almost every issue!!!! What has changed since 2002? Why, all of a sudden, is it better to challenge George Allen with his likeness? Why not present an alternative, a liberal, a Democrat!
Running Democrats as conservatives, as Republicans, as James Webbs, failed in 2002. It will fail in 2006. Bring in the liberals. Bring in Harris Miller. I know I will be voting for him on Tuesday. I hope you do the same.
UPDATE: Fascinatingly, not one person has disputed a single point I made besides the ridiculous "Kerry endorsed him so it doesn't matter." Just the standard trashing of my methods. Shall I assume what I wrote is indisputable?
