Truthfully, I'm really surprised this hasn't been caught yet, and if it has, let me know.
Big Dog pardons someone convicted of Rove's crimes
Setting aside the fact that it's Newsmax (and thus worthy only of being used to line hamster cages, if that), this may be something we want to know how to respond to.
Use this thread to discuss possible responses, ASSUMING IT'S TRUE. That's the premise. If it's false, the response writes itself, of course.
My thoughts in extended.
Essentially, here's the difference:
a) Morison (the analyst in question) wasn't next door to the President when he committed his crime.
b) Morison had already paid his debt to society - Clinton was just giving him a clean slate, and certainly didn't restore his security clearance. Bush is CONTINUING to allow Rove to play a role in the policy process, and despite having proven his untrustworthiness, Rove STILL has access to classified information.
c) Why was the information Morison leaked classified? To hide our technological capacity. Why was the information Rove leaked classified? To protect lives.
d) Ultimately, the question isn't how did Clinton behave when faced with an Espionage Act conviction. The question is, how would Clinton have responded to finding out that James Carville had leaked classified information that could have killed people just to get back at G. Gordon Liddy for saying Clinton lied?
e) What did the President know, and when did he know it? Clinton had never heard of Morison until the Pardon Office came to him. When did Rove tell President Bush that he was responsible for the leak?
