Updated June 24 at bottom with comments vis-a-vis McCain and new Bush/old Clinton stance toward North Korea.
So now we get the word that McCain has semi-officially turned down a semi-official invite to join Kerry on his ticket as veep. Once again, Kerry seems clueless to me.
First, if anybody on his staff read any blogs anywhere left of center, the Kerry campaign would know the idea was loathed out here.
Second, the McCain idea, especially if rejected as it was, risked making Kerry look like an unsure candidate, lacking the confidence to believe he can win on his own.
Third, due to the differences between McCain and many Democrats (including, theoretically, Kerry) on a number of issues, it ran (if successful) and still runs, in my opinion, now that it's public knowlege, the risk of making Kerry look even more like a waffler/flip-flopper, or at best (or worst) a creature of the DLC.
Anyway, especially after reading my poll choices, blast away, all "John Kerry, right or wrong" readers. I can handle it.

The Bush Administration's apparent new willingness to offer concessions to North Korea only reinforces the nutbarness of the McCain as veep idea.
Four years ago, Clinton's similar idea was being called "appeasement" by right-wing Republicans, including one Sen. John McCain.
