TNR's primary nomination was never about the so-called "TNR primary." As somebody around here pointed out, that would have required TNR to endorse Edwards because he won.
No. In order for TNR to endorse Bush in the general election, they first have to prominently and loudly nominate Lieberman during the primary. From there it's a short distance to endorse Bush in the general. How "contrarian," right?
Apologists will whinge that TNR has a right to do whatever it likes. After all, it's a political magazine, not another echo chamber for the left.
To them I say, what is it about democracy you don't like anymore?? It's a setup for the endorsement of Bush in the Fall.
