Has anyone noticed how the annoying victimization language of the far left PC crowd has become the norm for the right? For them, it's all about avoiding responsibility, as Bush's ads show, or in their words, the soft bigotry of low expectations.
Americans probably have liberal instincts, but at the same time show ignorance and reactionary tendencies. This is why framing issues is so important. Affirmative action seemed unfair because it implied a lack of equality; those who benefit need to take less responsibility for their actions. Or at least that was the intellectual rationale. But on a gut level, it worked with Americans because Americans basically don't like anything that is portrayed as whining.
Well right-wingers are whining pretty much all the time now. Criticize the Passion, and you're anti-Christian. Criticize the war, and you're radical. Jobs aren't the President's fault, he's trying. Bob Novak, syndicated talk show columnist, whines about the liberal media. Whine whine whine.
My suggestion is to showcase this by nicknaming him President It's Not My Fault, and calling it the Bush Congress. Tie these guys together rhetorically into their box of irresponsibility. Get rid of the whininess and excuses.
