Memorandum
To: Gephart, Kerry, Kucinich, Mosley-Braun, Lieberman, Sharpton, Edwards
From: juana q. public
Hi there. I know you all are busy trying to stand out and make an imprint on the voters. I hate to break it to you but no one is listening. Don't feel bad, you have been doing a great job in bringing up the issues but you're becoming like white noise- it's annoying at first then people block it out. Trust me that's happening now.
The recent poll numbers are good news to DNC strategists- the people are waking up and will vote for anyone but bush. That's where you guys can help. I ask you to start stepping down. Not only for your sakes but for the sake of the party. We need to win this one, BADLY. The dems need to consolidate their power and we can't do that when there are 9 people on the stage. Wanna know why most people can't name a Dem candidate? Because there are too many of you on stage. So, I ask you kindly to start getting off and focusing on reality. The reality is there won't be a President Gephart or Kerry or Kucinich or Mosley-Braun or Sharpton or Edwards or g-d help me President Lieberman. But there's a better chance of a President Dean or President Clark. I know you don't like the sound of it but that's reality.
So here's my plan, there's 7 of you. Every month, one of you make the announcement and pass your support to the remaining candidates. Then by the 7th month (May i think)there'll be two or one left. Everyone's dignity will be left intact, you can focus on your local races (we need you there in the senate and the house) and build a movement to get the bums out! Pretty simple I'd say, and doable. Give me a call when your in town. We can talk about exit strategies.
