At a time when the federal government is trying their best to gut any anti-discrimination laws against gay employees (as seen at Washington Blade or www.hrc.com), it's nice that they still have time to fawn all over the Boy Scouts. According to them, San Diego is picking on a good, healthy, wonderful non-religious organization. Yes...a non-religious organization which is run by fundamentalist whackjobs and Mormons, and which not only throws out any gay or athiest scoutmasters, troop leaders, etc. but also disbands any troop which even thinks of having a tolerant policy towards these people. The Boy Scouts say they shouldn't have to allow gays or athiests because they're privately run, yet when public parks and lands try to cut them off, they go sobbing to Papa Bush because the city is being mean to them by treating them like a private organization and not allowing them to practice hate while getting $1-a-year leases. And yet they get to have it both ways. Nice, huh. God bless America.

I was never a Boy Scout, and today I'm very proud of that. In spite of much propping up from bigots and from the government (the same thing these days), their membership numbers have faced a sharper decline each year. Pretty soon they will just be Baylor boys in scout uniforms. Meanwhile, the Girl Scouts, who don't discriminate against anyone, are being attacked and boycotted because of a tie to Planned Parenthood.
I usually try to buy at least 1 or 2 boxes of Girl Scout cookies when I see any around, and I hope all of you do the same. They are a far more worthy and inclusive group than the Boy Scouts.
