Boulder Congressman Mark Udall has pronounced himself the best candidate in the race without actually saying he is running. In the same story, Jon Corzine, the head of the DSCC again proved that the national Democratic party is brain dead by discouraging this in favor of Rutt Bridges, who would be DOA in a primary against Mark Udall. New Jersey Senator Corzine apparently thinks, in the DLC tradition (and biased by his own experience as a similar type of candidate), that Bridges money bags and moderatation to the point of barely being a Democrat (despite his near total political ineptitude and inexperience) outweight Udall's long political experience, solid grass roots in the party and high name recognition.
DeGette is still hedging, but a Udall run would likely keep her out of the race, and reduce the pressure to run on Ken Salazar, probably the strongest potential Democratic party candidate. Before incumbent Ben Nighthorse Campbell's announcement that he would not run again, Ken Salazar was considered the presumptive Democratic party nominee for Governor in 2006.
There is no news on the Republican side about who will be running.
