On this rainy Friday night in Columbus, after a week of news stories revealing
the Bush administration's readiness to explore even deeper levels of what it means to be "mustache-twirlingly evil",
reading the preface to Barack Obama's book gave me hope. Next, someone in the
Blog for America comments gave a heads-up that
Bill Moyers was on. I always mean to watch that, but I almost always forget. Bill Moyers rocks! It is so important to have someone out there who is still saying,
"There are four lights!"
After a report on influence-peddling in Washington, Moyers quipped about Tom DeLay that he "is so often under a cloud of scandal he has to squint when the sun comes out." Gotta love that guy--Bill Moyers gives me hope.
As did his guests,
Angela Glover Blackwell and Manuel Pastor, who spoke about their book, Searching for the
Uncommon Common Ground: New Dimensions on Race in America I liked the part where the interviewer asked, "Does the polarization in America drive you crazy?" and Angela said, "The talk about the polarization is what drives me crazy!" and went on to explain how the reality at the grassroots level in the community is very different.
So, who's going to go next--what gives you hope?
