Two ongoing diaries are worth reading together. One began at 8:40 EST, the other at 10:20 PST. They both discuss the same story on Aaron Brown's CNN show -- which didn't air until 10:00 EST.
The
first one began at 8:40PM EST and warned about the coverage that Aaron Brown was going to give regarding Propagannon. In an e-mail teaser, Brown said that he would "ask if left wing blogs went too far in 'outing' " Gannon.
Kossacks piled on, heavily. Brown was called a wimp, CNN was denounced, etc.
Th second thread began after the segment started. First surprise: the two people interviewed on the topics are from Americablog and Solon.com.
Second surprise: the critical issues, e.g.:
- Reporters using aliases is pretty unusual
- 'Gannon' got CIA documents
- Lots of reasons to think the White House was involved
all got aired.
Third [non] surprise: many Kossacks immediately looked for evidence that Brown's expressions showed his displeasure at the way the segment went.
This was good reporting. Brown covered a significant story and provided insight from people who actually had some knowledge of it. Their insight was primarily factual, and he did not rush to 'balance' it with a fact-free polemic from the other side.
Perhaps we should actually listen to an MSM report before attacking the motives and credibility of the reporters involved.
