Two Americas:
Just as everyone involved with DailyKos is celebrating the bravery of Richard Clarke - I have a cloud to add to the silver lining.
After all the research and discussion we have produced on the faults of the current administration, it seems impossible that Bush & Co. is not thoroughly dscredited.
But why do 57% of Americans think the Iraq invasion was a good idea? Why do 43% of Americans still support Bush?
I opened my copy of the Asheville Citizen Times today and found the reason: Bottom of the front cover, last article, only 252 words, the headline, "Bush downplayed al-Qaida, former adviser testifies." The most damning quote, "the Bush administration made it `an important issue but not an urgent issue,' said Richard Clark." Two of the four columns deal specifically with whether the Clinton administration gave the CIA the go-ahead to eliminate Bin Laden.
We live in alternate universes in America.
Imagine if you read your local paper, listened to Rush on the radio, and watched Fox News. Obviously, you are someone who is very interested in national and international affairs.
Imagine, instead, if you went online for news, listened to NPR on the radio, and watched CBS 60 minutes on Sunday and CSPAN yesterday.
