It takes a lot to rise above the idiocy and incomplete thoughts that can be found on the Right. From Pat Robertson this week declaring God's vengeance on Pennsylvania, to Bush's fuzzy logic on who filtered Congress' intelligence. But this week, Target department stores rose above the rest.
Read about Target
here.
Target declared store policy that pharmacists can refuse to fill Plan B prescriptions on ethical grounds. The ethical grounds cited are anti-abortion beliefs. Not only is this logic flawed because through refusing Plan B, they are most likely CAUSING an abortion, but Plan B is not equivalent to an abortion, it's a birth control, not a pregnancy terminator. But it also was an illogical decision on a professional level. Would a Mormon pharmacist not fill ADD prescriptions because their beliefs say individuals should not use stimulants? Or would could a doctor who follows Scientology refuse to give an epidural to woman in labor? Both these situations are ridiculous and unethical in themselves, and my hunch is Target would not allow the first and the public would be outraged at the second. What's the difference ethically? None. That's why Target wins this week's Retards on the Right award!
