The Republican response to Bush's military absenteeism is
gearing up:
George W. Bush's presidential campaign told John Kerry it "does not condone" any effort to impugn his patriotism but asserted that senator's voting record on national security and defense issues is a valid target of political scrutiny.
Basically, if Kerry's going after Bush's military record, then Bush will go after Kerry's military voting record. Only thing is that Bush's own record is so full of holes that attacking Kerry on defense would be too hypocritical, even for him. So guess who's joining in the fray?
Saxby Chambliss, on the part of the president and his henchmen, decided today to question my commitment to the defense of our nation," Kerry said while campaigning in Georgia, one of 10 states choosing electoral delegates on March 2.
Yes, that's the same Saxby Chambliss who won election to the Seante in 2002 by lying to impinge the patriotism of a man who lost 3 limbs in Vietnam.
Chambliss said that Max Clelend was soft on Homeland Defense and aired infamous attack ads siding Cleland with bin Laden and Hussein. Of course that was nonsense.
And so are Chambliss' baseless attacks on Kerry. But it looks like the new Seantor has got some debts to pay with the war-mongering president who got him elected. What better way to do it than by wading into a fray that Bush can't enter because of his own poor record?
