MI-Gov, MI-Sen: New Poll Results! Good news for Granholm and Stabenow!

MI-Gov:

Granholm 50
DeVos 42

Granholm is still holding, Stabenow gets a nice bump. As Detnews points out, Granholm is trusted by voters who blame Michigan's failing economy on President Bush. Good news for Michigan Democrats everywhere.

The airwaves are flooded with ads. DeVos has dropped millions and has been running ads since March. Bouchard, while not as well funded as Stabenow, is running on a message of change and not identifying as a Republican.

Bouchard attended a fundraiser with President Bush last week, one that DeVos skipped out on. A telling sign that DeVos' millions afford him the chance to skip out on the President, while Bouchard's sever cash disadvantage compared to Stabenow force him to stand behind the President and have his picture taken.

The poll internals show Michiganders blame President Bush for the economy! Could that explain Bouchard's 4 point drop?

We have to hold the Michigan Governors Mansion. There is no electoral math that accounts for a Democrat in the White House with a red Michigan.

    Are good, too. DeVos's favorables are only 3 points higher than his unfavorables, but Granholm's over 50. And the economy is also 50 points bigger an issue than taxes (which annoyingly, somehow always means giveaways) 54-4. Doesn't sound like a Republican year at all.

    Of course, over 50 in re-elect is what they always say an incumbent needs to be safe. That said, everything else looks very encouraging.

  •  This is somewhat a relief

    Obviously it is still really early and there is a lot of race yet to go.  Still, it is reassuring to see her maintain this lead.  I personally felt that she might have lost a few points in the last few weeks.  I'm sure a few other polls will show the race tied, but this is a good one.

    I'm cautious about what the impact of Ford's recent buyout will have.  Even if many point to Bush, she's bound to unfairly receive some blame.

  •  DeVos is definately on the defense...

    Did you see his ad with his workers "touting" Amway company???  Reminds me of the one Walmart had to do on their health care (not) to try to shore up that bad image.  Yes, DeVos is playing defense.

  Rumors of Michigan's purpleness are greatly exaggerated, methinks. Definitely a great pick-me-up after a long hard slog at work.

  Is still far from over, as I think DeVos is getting increasingly desperate and will spare no expense to buy the governorship.  That said, I really like the direction things are headed!
