Just about 10,000 people put Lamont on top. The media pays no attention to 200,000 protesters against the war in Iraq, but only 10,000 voters make a huge difference to defeat a powerful pro-war Senator.
Progressives must continue to increase turnout, especially offline, since most people don't vote at all.
Lamont won because dKos alone dramatically increased turnout, by let's say 10,000 pro-Lamont voters. We can do better nationally for other progressive candidates and clean house. What we have isn't an insurgency, it's an anti-incumbency.
However, one significant problem as we go forward. Oddly Lieberman had huge support among the poor and those without a college degree or internet access. The digital divide must be bridged so the working class can access campaign information online and especially blogs to bypass MSM (TV and print) to make a better informed choice during important elections that affect them disproportionally.
Hat tip to Markos and the netroots. They started this information uprising.
