Dean 35 (unchanged from yesterday)
Clark 20 (down 1)
Kerry 10 (unchanged)
Lieberman 9 (up 1)
Others 9 (unchanged)
Undecided 17 (unchanged)
Under withering attack from Kerry and Lieberman, Dean's unfavorable rating... has declined by one point from 19 to 18. (However, his favorable rating has also declined from 72 to 65.) Also, Kerry and Lieberman have half the vote of those with unfavorable opinions of Dean, but only 10-11% of the 82% with favorable or undecided opinions.
"Likely Democratic primary voters believe any Democrat would be better than George W. Bush and most dislike attacks that could damage any of the potential nominees. This is nothing new, but some campaigns still do not understand it. John McCain learned this lesson in South Carolina in 2000 when he attacked George W. Bush with an ad comparing Bush to Bill Clinton."
McCain really never had the time to recover from his mistake. Kerry and Lieberman certainly won't.
