More thoughts on the doe-eyed mysticism that is RunawayBrideGate
- Why are we supposed to feel sorry for Wilbanks? Watching the coverage, there's a lot of outrage over her faked abduction, especially as it relates to the man hours spent searching for her. But the outrage seems to have evolved into a sense that we're somehow supposed to feel sorry for Wilbanks. We're starting to hear more and more about her husband's (and I'm assuming her's as well) faith. The guy even wants to still marry her. It's as though the fact that she's a Christian is supposed to make it all better. Just a lost sheep, running away from her flock. Excuse me if I don't buy into this line of bullshit.
More questions after the jump.
.- Why isn't anyone talking more about Wilbanks' scapegoating of a Latino man when she faked her abduction? She told authorities that a Latino man and a Caucasian woman in a blue van kidnapped her. What would have happened if a massive regional search occurred? Police stopping any suspicious blue van driven by a Latino. An entire group of people subjected to needless and potentially dangerous searches all because of this woman's lie. What if vigilantes like the participants in the Minuteman Project decided to "chip in"? There could have been a very human price for Wilbanks' crimes.
- Why must we continue to feed the media beast? Why do we let people like MSNBC Senior Producer Nina Bradley write columns about Wilbanks, making such declarative statements as "As a fellow bride-to-be, I understand the pressures and stress related to getting married." and "How dare she do this to a sympathetic public? I have no sympathy for her."? Christ, the doe-eyed white lady toyed with our feeble emotions! For this she must burn. Nevermind the racial undertones. She's hurt the institution of marriage! And excuse me while I laugh over the phony outrage; do you expect us to believe, Nina, that you, a senior producer at MSNBC, is upset about anything more than the fact that CNN may have scooped you during their TotalCoverage of RunawayBrideGate? I sure hope not.
- For Larry David fans everywhere: If Wilbanks had killed her husband, would she have been dubbed the Crazy Eyes Killer? Yo Delicious, fetch my man an Alize!
