I'm surprised no one has diaried about this morning's Meet the Press. (I'll delete if someone has and I missed it.)
Tom Coburn came across as an idiot. Perhaps it's because I'm just new to Coburn.

Russert quizzed Coburn regarding some comments Coburn made at John Roberts's confirmation hearings in which Coburn said his medical training enabled him to detect whether people are being truthful. (A choice tidbit: Coburn told Roberts that during the hearings he had been watching Roberts's body very carefully.)
To Russert, Coburn confirmed that he believed his medical training, his ability to watch people's "respiratory" responses and other reactions, allowed him to determine whether people are telling the truth. Russert asked if he'd ever used that skill in Senate hearings. Coburn said yes, and cited the example of hearings concerning wasteful spending.
For those who saw the Doctor of Truth in action, I've got a question: Does clearing your throat about 100 times in the course of a short interview say anything about your truthfulness?
