Universal insurance is an issue that is building and will benefit all, but the very rich and the health insurance companies. However, as we all know, the corporate interests have long been opposed to any type of government run insurance program. What's worse is that until yesterday, I had never seen or heard of any paper that openly supported single payer insurance.
More below the fold
The Bergen Record is my local NJ paper. It is based in Hackensack, NJ which is a suburb of NYC. It has long been know for its quality. Yesterday, the paper ran a story about a union man who had a stroke. Unfortunately, his health insurance coverage was quickly exhausted. The local hospital then began to charge him the uninsured rates which were its highest possible rates. Then, the hospital began to pursue his family with collection agencies.
Heart-breaking story about the abusive billing practices of hospitals. It also ran an editorial o this issue. Rather than merely call for an end to the abusive billing practices, it instead forcefully came out in favor of single payer insurance.
I am very happy to see any newspaper push for single payer insurance. Our party needs all the support to advocate for an idea whose time has come. You can read the article here: Medical Bill Nightmare
Please write a letter to the editor and support them in this position. We all know how hard it is for any media group to advocate a true liberal position and any paper that does it needs our support. Thanks.

UPDATE:There were several letters published today that were supportive. Let's keep it up so that The Record and maybe others will continue its coverage of this issue. Here is the link for the letters:
Letters to the Editor
When GM cuts 25,000 members of its workforce in part because it owes $1 Billion in heath care costs annually, the system is horribly broken. It not only hurts the little guy, but causes major problems for our economic competitiveness in the world.
