GREAT VIDEO: Reagan's NSA chief on "cutting and running"

Hi everyone,

I wanted to thank all of you who attended our hearing on the cost of the continued occupation of Iraq on Tuesday. We had a wonderful group of Members, and the panelists were simply fantastic. I know that everyone who participated learned a lot, and I hope that some of the ideas that were raised spread as far and wide as possible.

As we expected, we didn't receive support from the main stream media. I wanted to especially thank the bloggers who were able to attend, as well as the folks over at Politicstv who are providing full coverage of the event on their website.

I want to share a short video clip from General Odom's testimony, where he discusses the notion of "cutting and running."

General Odom, who was the head of the NSA under President Reagan, is an incredibly powerful voice on this issue, and I hope that all of you will join me in sharing his remarks with your friends and families.

  splatter the U.S. military on the sidewalk.  The leadership, of course, just pushed the poor military over the edge and does just fine regardless.

  The great big PR machine is so pervasive that simplistic phrases, pre-digested to mean what TPTB want them to mean, trump any and all intelligent discourse.  

  Somehow, the American public has been all-but-completely anesthetized, so "protected" from thinking for themselves that the constant outrages perpetrated upon us simply slide into oblivion.  The example of this week's Newsweek cover really says it all.

    what do we do? Nothing? I understand, and share, your points - to a point. But giving up on the truth is the WORST thing we can do now. We need to work on countering Republican memes like "cut and run" - we need to stop allowing them to define the language of discourse. This is the time to stand up, not down.

  how the Regan legacy is coming back to bite Bush in the ass. The Bush people tried so hard to compare Bush to Regan and it is not happening. Nancy and stem cell research, Ron Regan Jr. can't stand the man. Jim Webb running against Allen, Bush's flunky, and now this. Interesting!
