You guys are giving me hope.
Please, please stop. What do you think you're doing? Yesterday, I diarized for a new strategy: an in-your-face-take-back-America-now strategy for the Next Four Years. Like some of you, I believe a thorough regrouping is in order for the Democratic Party. I want to go back to the drawing board and help create a brand new marketing campaign. I want to look ahead, not to the past.
We are on the road to the future, dammit, and we are not turning back!
Or are we?
Ohio and Florida are the rude houseguests that refuse to leave the party. They're just now sobering up from their all-night binge and they have some ugly stories to tell. Tales of backroom ballot counting. Tales of mysterious IT men working the computers before the election. Tales of weird mathematic anomalies. Tales of intimidation and outright fraud.
As Keith Olbermann becomes the first mainstream journalist with the balls to talk about voting irregularities, other media outlets may jump on the bandwagon soon. As of today, a Google news search of "Cuyahoga County" pulls up precious few stories related to the election. That may soon change on Saturday, when the deadline for overseas votes in Ohio passes (those votes still haven't been counted) and state election workers cans start officially canvassing the votes. The eligible provisional ballots will then be sorted and counted, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and a certified total will be published by December 2. Throw over-votes and spoiled ballots into the mix, and look out: Recount City is approaching fast.
In short, you guys are giving me hope. Please tell me that this hope is justified!
