Now that Dean will not be campaigning for President, who to vote for? Maybe it depends on where you live.
To give Dean and his platform the most influence at the convention, perhaps Deaniacs in relatively strong Dean states where they're likely to break 15% will continue to rack up a few delegates. (ARE there any more of these states without Dean actively campaigning?)
In weak Dean states where Dean is unlikely to break 15%, it really is a vote between Kerry and Edwards or a protest vote for Dean. And the Dean campaign is not about maiking a protest or a point, it's about making a difference. So, which one?
Personally, I find Edwards by far the more persuasive/convincing. But I worry about his April-August spending ability, having accepted federal matching funds limiting him to spending $45 million until the convention.
Kerry, as flat as he is, at least has the option to compete financially with Bush in the late spring and early summer. But does he actually have the ability to raise that money? Will enough people really support him financially, not just with their vote for the frontrunner?
I'll plan to caucus for Dean on the first ballot here in CO (April 13); it's an Iowa-style thing here, I think. If Dean's not viable in my precinct, I may have to vote for Edwards, despite the financing handicap. He's awfully persuasive; you don't make millions as a trial lawyer on your good looks alone.
