Since my last diary entry didn't contain any real news, and I strive to be useful, here's another. Think of it as a 2 for 1 blue light special...
A child psychiatrist from Yale University is denouncing efforts by the Oregon group that opposes same-sex marriage, saying they are misusing his research.
But backers of Measure 36, which would amend Oregon's constitution to ban same-sex marriage, said they believe Dr. Kyle Pruett's research shows that a child fares best growing up with a married father and mother.

Actually, children generally fare better with two parents than one, even if the parents are of the same gender, Pruett said.
"There is to date no credible research that says children raised by gay and lesbian couples are at risk," he said.

This is totally unsurprising, but as a gay scientist it makes me want to puke. There are mountains of evidence that homosexuality is at least in part due to biology (i.e. frequency of male homosexuality increases with the number of older brothers a subject has) but the right, like in so many other cases, ignores the inconvenient results they don't like and distorts the ones they can use to fit their agenda.
This cherry-picking approach to scientific results is the antithesis of real science and it is one reason Kerry is so appealing to scientists. The idea that real science will actually be respected in the white house makes me drool, and is just one more reason to go GOTV for Kerry.
