Before we begin, a few "program notes." First, thank you all so much for the birthday greetings last night. Mrs Pastor put her diary up as something of a lark. She gasped when she saw it had made the recommended list - she wasn't intending that. As for me, it's a bit overwhelming to be surrounded so many well-wishes. If I didn't know better, I'd say you all liked me. Heh.
Next week, I'll be in Vegas, of course. I'll post the Interfaith Service in its entirety, sermon and all, in place of "Brothers and Sisters." Look for it sometime late afternoon Sunday. After that, I'm taking two weeks to get Mrs P's sister married off and generally recover my sanity. Anyone want to volunteer to fill for me on June 18th?
Last thing: we'll be taking up a collection at the Interfaith Service. No, it's not going to the DNC. Take the poll, let us know where you think it should go.
Caring God,
we thank you for your gifts in creation:
for our world,
the heavens tell of your glory;
for our land, its beauty and its resources,
for the rich heritage we enjoy.
We pray*:
for those who make decisions about the resources of the earth,
that we may use your gifts responsibly;
for those who work on the land and sea, in city and in industry,
that all may enjoy the fruits of their labors
and marvel at your creation;
for artists, scientists, and visionaries,
that through their work we may see creation afresh.
Silent prayer
We thank you for giving us life;
for all who enrich our experience.
We pray:
for all who through their own or others' actions
are deprived of fulness of life,
for prisoners, refugees, the handicapped, and all who are sick;
for those in politics, medical science, social and relief work,
for your Church and all communities everywhere,
for all who seek to bring life to others.
Silent prayer
We thank you that you have called us to celebrate your creation.
Give reverence for life in your world.
We thank you for your redeeming love;
may we love you and one another as you love us.
Silent prayer
Creator, bring us new life.
Redeemer, renew us.
Spirit, strengthen and guide us.
Update [2006-6-4 21:18:25 by pastordan]: Mrs Pastor has graciously offered to post a Brothers & Sisters next week. Trolls be warned: she's twice as tough as me.
