Suspension of Habeas Corpus? Nope.
Apparently John Roberts is a little dispondent at his $165,200 annual salary as a Supreme Court Justice:
Federal judges rarely left the bench in the past but are now leaving at an increasing rate, 38 in the past six years, including 17 in the last two years. "Inadequate compensation directly threatens the viability of life tenure," the chief justice said.
Isn't there a conservative argument floating out there that argues against increasing public employees salary (in particular educators) because we want the most dedicated people in public service?
Let's see, $165,200 for 6 to 8 months work before hitting the lecture circuit? I guess Little John is now realizing that it is tough going from making millions to the lowly public servant job of Supreme Court Justice (I'm sure the benefits just suck).
"Congressional inaction in the face of this situation is grievously unfair,"
Pardon me Justice Roberts, for I somehow am lacking in my ability to find any tears or sympathies for your situation. Feel free to resign your position and return to private practice.
