Next Generation Democrats is pleased to endorse Jeff Dion, Democrat for Occoquan Supervisor on the Prince William Board of Supervisors. Jeff is the first Virginia endorsement for NGD, and the first candidate to receive a donation from us as well.
Jeff is a great candidate who has dedicated his life to public service. From his official bio
In 1982, when Jeff was just fourteen years old, his sister, Paulette, was brutally murdered at the age of 23. She was the random victim of a serial killer. Jeff and his family were devastated, but Jeff vowed to honor his sister’s memory by fighting for justice and crime victims’ rights.
Jeff has lived up to this vow by working on the Virginia Criminal Justice Service Board and winning the Ronald Wilson Reagan Public Policy Award (2006) from the Department of Justice.
Jeff is running against Mike "the Developers Candidate" May, in a special election on January 30th for the open seat representing Occoquan on the Prince William Board of Supervisors.
This race has the potential to be historic because Mr. Dion is openly gay and his election would be the first openly gay Supervisor in Prince William County. We bring this up not because we see this as an issue in the election, but because the right-wing bloggers have already started attacking Mr. Dion for his sexuality, and it is our job to defend him. Don’t support him because he is gay, but remember that the GOP and hate-mongers are sending in money from around the country to prevent his election.
Right now, there are few if any Democrats under the age of 60 elected in Prince William County and we look forward to increasing that number through the election of Mr. Dion.
