There is word that the Republicans no longer believe in an up or down vote for the President and are threatening with a Filibuster in their first week of being in the minority.
Raw story is also reporting MINORITY leader McConnell also expecting Senator Lieberman to join the Republicans in their Filibuster for Bush's Iraq plan.
"McConnell said he was 'hopeful' of keeping enough Republicans to muster the 40 votes needed to block a resolution (which in any case would be non-binding)," Paul Mirengoff blogs at Power Line. "McConnell added that he looks forward to the support of Sen. Lieberman. However, he could not say that any other Democrats will join the Connecticut Senator."
Considering how deeply opposed to the Filibuster Lieberman was when it was to even help his own party, I surely find it a bit harder to believe that he would join his opposition to Filibuster the Democrats. But let's say he might go there. Wouldn't that be such a betrayal and fraudulent act, so soon after taking his position and PROMISING that if he won the election, he would do everything possible to bring the troops home as soon as possible....shouldn't that act be reason for Senator Lieberman to lose his Chairmanship?
I believe so and I believe we should be asking Senate Leader Reid to make that point very clear to Senator Lieberman, should- in an amazing act, Lieberman even think about doing so.
