Why oh why does Lieberman get this undeserved reputation for being a statemen and an all around great guy? I just don't get it. The other day, he totally backstabbed Mary Landrieu. Landrieu campaigned for him and tried to help him avoid all the unpleasantness with the having to run as an independent. Lieberman repaid her by saying he's not going to hold Katrina hearings as he promised. Well, its looks like Mr. Stateman is at it again, this time the victim is in his own home state.
Lieberman's victim du Jour is fellow Senator Chris Dodd. Like Landrieu, Dodd backed Lieberman in the primary. Like a loyal Democrat, Dodd backed the winner of the Democratic primary, Ned Lamont. Now, Lieberman is behaving like a petulant child and not endorsing Dodd for president. This despite the fact that Dodd backed Lieberman's bid in 04, even though just about everyone knew it was doomed. That's how Lieberman repays friendship and loyalty?
When asked about supporting Dodd for president on MTP, Baghdad Joey had this to say:
I've worked closely with Chris Dodd for 18 years," he said. "His experience, his ability makes him a very credible candidate for president. I wish him well. I've had a lot of politics over the last two years. I'm staying out of any presidential campaign for a while."
Like Lieberman, Dodd isn't considered by the power that to be to be in upper echelon of candidates. Unlike Lieberman, Dodd acted maturely and endorsed his long term college. Lieberman claims he's looking out for CT's best interests. Wouldn't helping Dodd's candidacy help raise Dodd's profile and thus help CT. Or is Joey full of crap again?
