In his recent post repeating the canard about the Protestant Senator Barack Obama as an alleged madrassa-trained terrorist sleeper cell, "Erick" - i.e. new RedState Chief Erick Erickson - indulged in some nasty language regarding non-Christians.
But it's not his comments about Muslims to which I refer.
To quote Mr. Erickson's subheader:"Has Anyone Seen The Jew Amy Leibowitz Since She Took Those Pictures of Him?"
Referring to someone as "The Jew" may be good for Borat-style tasteless humor or Mel Gibson talking his way into a DWI, but it is a grave disappointment from the most prominent community blog of the conservative movement in the United States.
It is particularly disappointing because Ms. Leibowitz' status as Jewish or non-Jewish has nothing to do with either her role as a photographer or the subject matter of her photographs.
Before calling him out on this diary, I put a comment on the diary to which I cited above, inviting comment in return. Since no comment issued in response as of this morning, I thought I would invite further comments from across the spectrum of RedState readers.
I am an unapologetic liberal, but am dismayed when I see antisemitic tropes from Jimmy Carter, the rare (and quickly banned) commenter on DKos, etc. But this sort of thing is an embarrassment, particularly from a fellow member of the Bar as Erickson is. I would hold Markos Moulitsas to the same standard, as would every Kossack, I am sure.
If you think that this analysis is unfair or misleading, please comment below about how I might make a more fair or less misleading analysis of the subject matter. If criticizing Erick Erickson on this issue is sufficient to earn me a banning at RedState, I would ask only that the banning be both public and for life.
