Active Denial System or ADS for short. As diaried here in Dec., it is one scary weapon. Yesterday, the US Dept. of Defense showed off their new weapon at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia.
Well, thank Heavens it is a non-lethal weapon. Or is it? Read on....
Imagine going to protest the Iran War which is now in its fifth year. The US is broke and in a deep recession. The draft has been reinstated for all males. Women are now to be drafted too. Thousands are dead on both sides. The GOP president insists, "Stay the course." China and Russia sent over a million troops....
What does a good progressive patriot do? Protest! Coordinate the date, time and place. Thousands of protesters are in the downtown area chanting slogans, holding up signs for the cameras, and passing out hot coffee.
Suddenly it feels like your body is melting. Your wire-rim glasses blister your eyes. "My eyes are on fire!" Never have you felt pain like this. The others in the crowd feel as you do. Horrific sreams. Some older folks fall onto the cement. Their pacemakers stop working and their bodies writhe with shocking seizures. People are frantic. Hysterical. People trip and fall. Others want to run but can't. They are trapped in the see of bodies. Many are blinded. Children are being trampled to death. Panic. Another blast and another....
Isn't America great that we can develop such caring weapons like this? Produced by Raytheon, the system is NOW for sale!
The Silent Guardian™ protection system is a revolutionary less-than-lethal directed energy application that employs millimeter wave technology to repel individuals or crowds without causing injury. The system provides a zone of protection that saves lives, protects assets and minimizes collateral damage. Silent Guardian produces precise effects at longer ranges than current less-than-lethal systems and provides real-time ability to establish intent and de-escalate aggression. Various commercial and military applications include law enforcement, checkpoint security, facility protection, force protection and peacekeeping missions. The system is available now and ready for action.
Marine Col. Kirk Hymes, director of the Pentagon's Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate said
In increasingly complex military operations, the technology provided a much-needed alternative to just going from "shouting to shooting.
So, what does that mean, Col. Hymes? You ray gun the crowd at the shouting phase when the crowd gathers? Why wait for trouble, right? Or instead of deciding to mow down the crowd with bullets, you hit them with the military beams of agony after the shouting begins?
In this post 9/11 world, George Bush has made us, the American People as suspects. We are the enemy. We must take off our shoes, be searched, and have our luggage inspected. Our phone calls and E-Mails are carefully screened. Our internet searches are saved and used for the government "crack-downs." If we do not agree, we are suspect.
Of course, this new weapon is dangerous and lethal. It is pointed at us.
