Thanks to Jonathan Schwarz posting over at This Modern World, I found a link to a series of articles by Arthur Silber. Titled "Dominion Over the World", it's a work in progress that deserves more exposure.

The Dominion Over the World installments posted so far are a remarkable body of work. Rich with references and links, Silber builds a case about the insanity of U.S. Foreign policy for the last 100+ years, and how both the Left and the Right have internalized assumptions about America that don't bear close examinaition.
Silber provides that examination. I admit I have barely scanned the piece, but I've gotten far enough into it to realize it deserves much study. I don't necessarily agree with all of Silber's interprertions, but his scholarship and perception appears above and beyond the casual blogging most people (myself included) indulge in.
What makes it all the more poignant is that Silber is, if the circumstances he describes about his life are to be believed, is not doing this as a hobby. His blog Once Upon a Time is a personal cry of moral outrage backed up by fact-based judgment, unlike so much of which is taken so seriously by the MSM, etc. elsewhere. History, to rephrase the old saw, Is A Bitch; Bunk is what we substitue to make ourselves comfortable with it. Silber is not comfortable.
Read what Dinesh D'Souza writes here in the L.A. Times explaining the middle East and why we have to continue in Iraq. Compare it with Silber's work. Then consider how D'Souza has been handsomely rewarded for his peurile ravings by the MSM and the Wingnut Welfare machine while Silber toils in comparative obscurity. Truly, crime does pay.
In a sane world, Silber would have book contracts, cushy fellowships, and a newspaper columnist gig. Bookmark his blog, and if you feel so inclined, it probably wouldn't hurt to donate either. If the publishing efforts at Firedoglake pan out, Silber would be a good pick if they are looking for other writers to encourage. From what I've seen so far, a collection of his writings in print form would be a good place to start; I'm looking forward to the completion of Dominion Over the World.
UPDATE 1-28-06 Silber has added a sidebar to Dominion. "Ah, Democracy...Ah, Peace." Read it, and reflect on the lies we tell ourselves as a nation.
